About this work

Triste series.

I entered Florence. It was
at night. I shivered listening
almost asleep what the sweet river
he told me. I don't know.
what the paintings and books say
(not all paintings or all books,
just a few),
but I know what they say
all the rivers.
They have the same language that I have.
In the wilderness
the Orinoco speaks to me
and I understand, I understand
stories I can't repeat.
There are secrets of mine
that the river has taken,
and what he asked me to do, I'm doing.
little by little on the ground.
I recognized in the voice of the Arno then
old words that were looking for my mouth,
like the one who never knew honey
and finds that he recognizes his delight.
That's how I heard the voices
from the river in Florence,
as if I had been told before
what I was now hearing:
dreams and steps that united me
to the voice of the river,
beings in motion,
lightning strikes in history,
stubbornly lit up like lamps.
Bread and blood sang
with the nightly voice of water.

Pablo Neruda

The sea: Infinite place of calm, love, perfection, home.

Teeth/molars: Pain.

Tentacle: Attempt to reach, to contain, to catch.

Hand with an open eye: Hope.

Key: Secrets.

Pair of swifts: Love, dependence, union, partnership.

Big ears: Reason why the character, without any doubt, has to be a good person. A child with big ears has to learn to be a good person to survive.

Marks or shadow under the eyes: Sadness.

Marks on the neck: Beard, maturity, manhood.

Circle in the throat: Anxiety.

Narwhal: Narwhals cannot kiss each other.

Shipwreck: The frustration of unrequited love.

Constellations: Guide to understanding the incomprehensible.

Red plant (Man's love): The emotions that try to escape, to grow.

Deformed eye, erased: Reference to the artist's visual disorder. Fear of blindness. Unique point of view.
